Stay curious!
Daniel Diss,
The Curious Pastor
Growing up on a farm in south-central Illinois, I have always been curious about the natural world. I heard the call to ministry when I was young and followed that call into ministry. I have served congregations in Connecticut while in seminary, and in Illinois. Presently I'm the pastor at First United Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn. My background includes interests in the arts, the natural world and in particular how our natural world, faith, spirituality, and the arts all intersect.

Ministry Matters
Ministry does matter. Often those of us in the day-to-day practice of ministry can become discouraged. I've often heard it said, "I went to seminary to become a copier repair person" or "I'm an awfully expensive secretary." While those statements may have some nugget of truth, I also think it is important for clergy and congregations to think again about ministry. Ministry Matters are a series of essays intended to help engage those conversations. These essays are more questions than answers. They are intended to personal reflection, collegial conversation, and congregational conversation. There is a podcast of the same name which accompanies this series of essays.
